FEMALE FAN. FIRST LADY GRACE COOLIDGE.
BOSTON RED SOX
You read that right. Grace Coolidge, President Calvin Coolidge’s wife, was an avid baseball fan. She was so much of a baseball fan that she was nicknamed THE FIRST LADY OF BASEBALL. She was a life-long Boston Red Sox fan but while living in Washington D.C. she regularly attended Washington Senators’ games.  If she could not go to a game she would listen on the radio. She and President Coolidge were there to see the final game of the 1924 World Series between the Washington Senators and the New York Giants. This 12-inning game would be the only Washington Senators’ World Championship win.
FUN FACT: During one Red Sox game she was hit by a foul ball which gave her a temporary bruise and bump on her forehead. Even that could not derail her passion for baseball!
"I venture to say that not one of you cares a hoot about baseball but to me it is my very life." —Grace Coolidge
